What is the Nintendo Switch?

The Nintendo Switch is Nintendo’s 9th Console, it is the successor to the Wii U.

Formally known as Nintendo NX. The Switch is a hybrid device designed to operate as both a home console (similar to an Xbox or PS4) and a handheld device (like a large Nintendo 3DS).
The Switch console is a tablet-like screen with two detachable “Joy-Con” controllers that slide into place at its sides.

What are all the Games being released in 2017?

So far 85 games have been announced to be released in 2017.

Some of the big games coming out in 2017 include NBA 2k18, Skyrim, Mario Kart, Zelda, Super Mario and Fire Emblem Warriors.

 

How much will the games cost?

The Nintendo Switch gams are set to have a RRP of $59.99 or £49.99.

Does the Nintendo Switch come bundled with any games?

Unlike the Wii and Wii U it doesn’t come with an games.

How long is the battery life?

When the Nintendo Switch is plugged in and in TV mode the battery won’t run out.

When it isn’t plugged in and in tabletop or handheld mode then players should expect a battery life of 2-6 hours, depending on the game they are playing.

Does the Nintendo Switch dock charge the console?

Yes.

The Nintendo Switch will run at a lower resolution when not plugged in.

In handheld or tabletop mode, the Switch will run in 720p. Whereas in TV mode it will run in 1080p. However, not all games were designed to run at 1080p even when in TV mode.

For example, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is set to run at 900p when in TV mode.

The Nintendo Switch has a far better touch screen then the Wii U or the 3DS has. The Nintendo Switch comes with a capacitive display which allows for multi-touch functionality.

Capacitive multi-touch screens are seen in all high-end smartphones. This is a good sign.

 

How much does the Online Features Cost?

Much like Xbox and Playstation, Nintendo has announced a Online Service.

This is necessary in order to play online multiplayer games. The service supports online gameplay, online lobby & voice chat app, monthly game downloads & exclusive deals.

However, Nintendo has not released the monthly price. All users will get a free trial of Nintendo’s Online Service until fall.

The free monthly download is only temporary, users will only be able to play the game for a month. Making it more of a rental then are full download.

Does the Nintendo Switch have MiiVerse or Streetpass?

In short, No.

 

The Joy-Con Controllers Have Motion Sensors and Precision Feedback

The Joy-Con Controllers include a infrared sensor on the right controller, which gives each controller motion support and allows them to detect different hand gestures. Arms will be making use of this feature.

Another feature is “HD rumble” which offers precise force feedback using different types of vibrations.

Nintendo announced it won’t have streaming platforms available when the Switch launches. However, this does open the possibility of it eventually getting Netflix.
